Review: EAT! bistro @ Aqua Books

part2. (read part1.)

Having caught a glimpse of the Vicki Karon Francis room (alternatively known as the karaoke room though karaoke no longer applies), I booked it for my photography club’s lighting “workshop.” It’s a steal of a rental, and the space is lovely, with wood-paneled and silver-wallpapered walls, a bar, and various quaint pieces of furniture.

EAT! bistro and the karaoke room also ended up as the location of my goodbye party back in August. A baker’s dozen of us, or so, had a delicious, light supper in the bistro and polished off the rest of the menu. The chicken dippers, French fries, and accompanying dips stood out from the rest. The dippers, especially, were so tasty that we’d say they’d win in a punching match with Mitzi’s. The nachos were a massive serving that required boxing up, the pink lemonade was raved over and re-ordered, and the flatbread pizza was remarked upon as tasty.

I let the server choose my meal, the taco salad, and I’ll just have to remember not to do that again. It’s a typical taco salad, unremarkable even for its salsa or the seasoning on the beef. The only other letdowns were the vegetarian lasagna, which was light on filling and even lighter with the creative use of puff pastry in place of sheets of pasta, and perhaps the lone berry tart from the dessert case that may have been waiting for a devouring mouth for a touch too long. We also ordered punch and cookies for snacking during board games up in the karaoke room. The gingerbread was particularly good, but everything else we would have survived without.

A fun place for a fun date! It’s got my recommendation.
