1750 Sargent Avenue  Winnipeg, MB R3H 0C7 (204) 788-2015 Four friends and I visited Chop for the Dine About menu, and we all loved it! Well-prepared, exemplary casual service, and fantastic value. We sampled five different entrees: prime rib, top sirloin, haddock, beef ribs, and pork chop. All were flavoured well, though the prime rib wasn’t the most beautiful cut I’d ever seen. The...

Anonymous asked: Hi! We are a group of ladies, in our 30's, from North Dakota and we are heading your way for a weekend at the spa. What are some food places and late nite hangouts we just can't miss? I would say our tastes are more Italian, Mediterranean and Contemporary and in the downtown area preferably. Thanks!

Anti-Tip: Aqua Books and EAT! bistro Closing!
This is terrible news! It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Anyone who’s had a crack at Grade 11 English will be familiar with the first line of A Tale of Two Cities. It also fits as an opener for what I have to tell you, with apologies to Mr. Dickens, and apologies to You.  Candace and I are, quite honestly, pretty devastated to announce that the doors of Aqua Books and...

Folk Fest Series Review: Skinners The Forks and Lockport, MB  I was really seduced by the idea of poutine. It turned out so terribly wrong. The gravy is a flavourless, from-a-mix mess and the cheese is just bad, nondescript, grated white stuff. The fries are fine. Just order the fries. Forget the “poutine.”

Folk Fest Series Review: Bellissimo 877 Waverley Street (204) 489-0495  I ordered the Salsicce Penne, seduced by the promise of Italian sausage and large portions. What I received was indeed generous but the penne tasted and looked like nothing better than your standard boxed dry pasta, while the olive oil did a poor job coating the penne, the sausage sat in salty clumps, and the powdery...

Tip: Dine About Winnipeg →
February 2-11, 2011 My favourite dining event is around the corner. Sadly, I won’t be around to enjoy it, but you will! Tip: Celiac-Friendly Days @ EAT! bistro →
January 12-22, 2011 One of the few restaurants in the city offering celiac-friendly dishes and perhaps the only one with such variety! Since its opening in 2008, EAT! bistro has become one of downtown’s most popular eateries.
